“Faster Mummy, faster!” called out my 3-year old as I ran past, just 1km into Parkrun one hot, humid Saturday morning. The previous week we had been working on supporting the runners and I had the girls saying “Go Daddy, go!” as he went past around 1km and again at the finish. Little did I know that he decided to tweak the cheer coaching a little until I heard this being called out loudly, much to the amusement of other nearby runners!
I run for me. I run for my girls. I run for my health. I run for my marriage – my husband is my favourite running partner. I run because I wanted to prove to myself that I can. Now that I know I can run, I run because I love it.
